15 years of TachoWeb

From analysis software for tacho data to a comprehensive platform for fleet management

This year is special for the DAKO GmbH: In 2021, we celebrate the 15th anniversary of our core product, the web platform TachoWeb. Looking back today to the software’s beginnings in 2006, the development of the web-based portal can be clearly seen and felt in the application. Even then, TachoWeb was one of the pioneers of its time. With initially only two, one year later, five employees, today’s CEO Thomas Becker laid the foundation for sustainable success.

Pioneer in data management of digital tachographs

When the digital tachograph was introduced in 2006, DAKO GmbH was one of the first to read out and also analyse this data. Not only that, but DAKO was the only provider at the time that had not only a local but also a web-based solution for reading out, analysing and archiving tachograph data in its portfolio.

DAKO filled this gap in the market with TachoWeb and was thus able to position itself at the top of the market in the field of tachograph data management, partly due to the expansion of the TachoStation network. The advantages of a web-based application convinced many customers and well-known partners: access to the data from any computer with an internet capability, no need to store data in the own company and simple transmission paths.

New opportunities through telematics and delivery logistics management

Thinking ahead and detecting new developments at an early stage has always distinguished DAKO as a company. In 2010, at the same time as the appearance of remote-capable tachographs, DAKO was again one of the first companies to provide a self-developed solution for remote tachograph download. The telematics boxes required for this function in the vehicle opened up further possibilities for expanding TachoWeb, which soon had functions such as vehicle tracking, geo-zones and live dispatch times. The tour planning followed later, which has also included intelligent and automated options since 2018. Apps for dispatchers and drivers are now also part of the portfolio and allow access to vehicle, driver and tour data on mobile devices.

In 2018, TachoWeb received a fresh face and an improved user interface with version 6.0. Another milestone in the same year was the acquisition of the logistics software hybriLOG in Dresden. With this, DAKO is on its way to offering a fully comprehensive digital delivery logistics and fleet management for companies in the transport and delivery industry.

Customers benefit from the continuous focus on the future

What started as a 2-man show 15 years ago has now become a continuously growing company with currently 140 employees who put their heart and soul into working on user-friendly and future-oriented software solutions every day. In doing so, DAKO attaches particular importance to customer-oriented development. A recent example is the digital vehicle pre-check in the app DAKO drive. Customers from different sectors of the transport industry and their feedback accompanied the process from the beginning. “We look confidently to the future and continue to develop our platform every day to enable our customers to achieve end-to-end networking across the entire logistics and transport process,” says Thomas Becker. “We have been pursuing this goal for 15 years, or to put it another way: innovation is a tradition at DAKO.”

„At DAKO, innovation is tradition.“
